2009 Hallmark Arcade Onament -- Galaga
« on: May 06, 2009, 04:02:13 pm »
Did a search but didn't see this mentioned.

I ran across Hallmark's news about the new ornaments, Galaga will be this year's arcade cab.

I thought someone would do it with the Pac-Man one released last year.  I never saw one.

I was hoping for a Donkey Kong cab this year, but it makes financial sense for them to do this one: the tooling for the cab is already in place.  Yes, I know Galaga and Pac-Man have two different cabs, but I bet if you put these side-by-side they're the same thing.

obviously they have rights with midway / namco, unless they sign nintendo I wouldn't expect to see a dk anytime soon. pretty neat though as I have the Pac one.

Awesome! Now my Pac from last year won't be lonely. These make great stocking stuffers (for me at least...) as well.

Very nice.  This will be on the tree next to PacMan.  I hope they eventually add Nintendo as well as I would really like a Donkey Kong.

Well, since the Pac-Man one used the Ms Pac/Galaga shaped cab, I would assume they'll be the same shape ;D The colors are wrong on the marquee and kickplate, and the CP is wrong, but the artwork itself looks pretty close on the side and front, at least from what I remember.

I'd be willing to bet...2010 Hallmark Arcade Ornament -- Ms. Pacman... 2011 galaxian/bosconian? similar style cabs.

Don't forget every piece of art on the Pac ornament except for the CPO was wrong when compared to the original too. I still really like them though.

The CPO was wrong too. On the ornament, it has a regular ghost and Pac-Man graphic from the game (and Pac-Man for the start buttons). On a real Pac-Man, it has the tall skinny Pac-Man with legs and the ghost with an big open mouth, like the sideart.

Why yes you are correct. Nice catch. At least now I can say EVERY bit of artwork on the ornament is wrong.  ;D Still, Neat Knick Knack...
