Videos issue
« on: April 30, 2009, 07:28:33 pm »
OK, So I tried running videos and nothing happened.  I read the manual and forgot a codec.  So I installed FFDSHOW.  The videos ran, but slow, although the sound was running full speed.  Then I read further and found out xvid is nessesary.  So I uninstalled FFDSHOW, then installed the latest xvid codec.  Now I get video running full speed but its all garbled as if there was some serious color separation.  Also, it appears to be magnified and cutoff.  Sound runs fine.

Any thoughts on this?

IS Mala supposed to resize videos?  Maybe my issues is that they are getting cut off becasue teh video resolution is higher than the area I defined in mylayout?

Are you using 1.5x or 1.6x?

This sounds like the 1.5x problem, and I think most had some sort of slow video issue.  I recommend the CCCP or K-lite Codec packs (google it).  These contain FFDShow, but also many others that may help you out.  There's also an app called g-spot that can be found on the Xvid site.  Drag your vids to it and it will tell you if you have the necessary codecs on your machine.  But, just because your PC may pass in g-spot, MaLa could still output bad video.

If this is 1.6, I suggest you post it as an issue in the 1.6 Mala Test thread, as theres a solid new video engine, and if there's problems, loadman needs to know about it.

And yes, MaLa will resize vids to whatever the box is (if you don't force aspect ratio).  Some have had better luck with the SQ than the HQ vids tough.

Yes you need the right Codecs installed and not Divx.

Usually Xvid is all you need but I have tried CCCP and K-lite and tehy are good too.

Do the Videos play in Window Media Player OK???

Then

A Quick way is to test the video in the 1.6 stand alone video player.

It looks like I only get the top 2\3rds of the video in mala as well as in WMP.  However, when I ran my videos on your video test player, they ran perfectly.

Is this video player in the 1.6 beta?  If so, Can I get in on the beta test?

Thanks
Mike

I found the beta on the other thread.  It fixed my problems.

Thanks
