D&D Shadows Over Mystara issues.

I loaded up D&D to bash some skulls, but the weirdest thing happened...  Every time I went to walk to the left, I cast magic.  I started as P2 and he worked fine.  However, when P1 attacked, P2 would then cast magic.

At first I thought the button was just sticking but it worked fine in the MAME menu.  I also opened up the windows gamepad deal and that was working fine.

I loaded up some random 6 button game and everything worked fine.

I then loaded the other D&D beat 'em up, and that too worked just fine.

Anyone ever come across this bizarre issue before?  I thought it might have something to do with me settings pedals and my wheel as P1 in global config, but even after removing those changes, it still does it.  =\

if it is just that game, i'd check to see if there is a .cfg file for that rom and perhaps delete it...maybe there is some weird control mapping for that specific game

I did find a cfg in Mame\cfg:
Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!-- This file is autogenerated; comments and unknown tags will be stripped -->
<mameconfig version="10">
    <system name="ddsom">
        <video>
            <target index="0" view="Pixel Aspect (12:7)" />
            <screen index="0" hoffset="-0.004000" hstretch="0.926000" />
        </video>
        <counters>
            <coins index="0" number="7" />
        </counters>
        <mixer>
            <channel index="0" defvol="1.000000" newvol="2.000000" />
            <channel index="1" defvol="1.000000" newvol="2.000000" />
        </mixer>
    </system>
</mameconfig>

That all looks like stuff I set.  Nothing control related.  Is that the wrong file?

Could it be a bad rom or something?  You'd think if it was a global control setting, it'd affect all games and I would assume it's not something to do with the specific config because everything is default except what I've listed I changed.  If there was some problem with the defaults, I imagine everyone would have it, no?

I found out what my problem is.

My general controls are set to map player 3 to 1 and 4 to 2 for games like Sunset Riders and X-men where you position dictates your character.

Since Mystara is only configured for 2 players by default, it was apparently messing the game up receiving signals from non existent players.
