Begining own arcade project, need CP advice
« on: April 14, 2009, 12:53:56 am »
So yeah, after reading this site and others for a few months, I've decided to begin my own cabinet project. Will probably never be anything more than average or below, but will be fun to make hopefully. I've been looking at different plans and ended up going with the dynamo showcase as my base design. Mostly because I'm hoping to make it able to be broken down should it come time to move elsewhere. As the title suggests I'm currently trying to decide on a layout for the control panel. It's primary life will be for our favorite 4-player games (Sunset Riders comes to mind). I'd also be using it for a few of my favorite 16-bit console games and arcade fighters. I realize that 8 buttons for players 1+2 is probably more than what I really need.
At one point, I was hoping to iso my older psx games and play them on this cabinet as well, but not sure its practical at this point. I haven't thrown in a spinner or trackball since I don't remember any games I loved that used em (unless you guys can make some good suggestions?). Happs competition buttons and joysticks will be what I'll use until I get the urge to light up everything with led buttons. Sebben probably wont make it to the actual graphic overlay I use in the end, but he was fun to just throw in there. I guess after all of this babbling, I'd like to see some input as to how I should lay out this control panel. Any suggestions and comments are much appreciated, thank you for your time.
