U-Trak / Mame32 Question
« on: April 11, 2009, 07:38:13 am »
Hey guys,

My U-Trak (on WinXP) running Mame32 worked just fine initially when I connected the U-Trak thru a powered external USB hub. It worked as X and Y movements on my Windows XP system, and was able to be recognized in Mame32.

I recently moved the U-Trak connection from the external USB hub to a direct connection (thru a USB extension cable) to the PC.

Now it still works on Windows XP (when I move the U-Trak, the mouse moves LEFT and RIGHT).

BUT ... it isn't recognized by Mame32 at all.

Any suggestions?

  David

I've tried rebooting the PC, re-checking USB for device changes, etc and nothing different in Mame32. Obviously I have "Enable mouse input CHECKED on Controller settings"  :)  But still cannot be seen in when hitting TAB and trying to configure the device.

This is very strange. What happens if you dont use the extension cable? Extension cables are not part of the USB spec.

Thanks Andy for the pointer.

Ok, figured this out (sort of).

I disconnected all USB devices and then went into CONTROL PANEL -> Mouse Properties (Hardware) and noticed there was still a "HID-compliant mouse" device listed -- so I UNINSTALLED the device. Then, one at a time, I plugged in each of the USB devices (4xUltraSticks, 2xBlackhawks, 1xU-Trak, 1xLEDWiz, 1xiPac) ...

After that, all the devices re-connected on the machine, and life is good. Both Windows XP and Mame32 recognize the U-Trak.

(I tried with/without the extension cable and that didn't do anything -- so I did the disconnect trick above)
