Dual Display using indash 7" LCD on Mameroom UAII
« on: March 31, 2009, 11:09:24 am »
Now that my project is nearing completion - cab is very playable...

I am looking at potential upgrades.  One of which is using Marquee Magician:
http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=6911

To show CPWizard controls for each game on a small LCD.  I am considering mounting this either below the monitor (which is raised about 3" from the bottom of the cabinet) or using a fold down LCD between the speaker grilles in the speaker area.

Has anyone done this with a small LCD as a second monitor?  I have done some searches for second monitor, etc but no one shows pictures.

Thanks... looking forward to where this group could take a project like this...

I know an LCD of choice in a lot of modding communities is the PSOne LCD: ebay link shortened

Here's a pinout for it: http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/psxav.htm

There probably isn't much that hasn't been done with this screen, so there should be plenty of documentation if you look.

Good Info Kayden!  Thanks.

But I'm not sure 5" is large enough to really see... and the one's I am looking at are touchscreen too (for possible Juke Box apps)

Like this one:

Or this one for flip down:

I have no experience with touchscreen beyond laptops or POS units, but size wise, I think 5" is plenty for displaying just a control panel.

However, if you do want to use it for a juke, then I suppose you'll want a touchscreen if a CP full of buttons isn't enough.  =P

Or this one:

Not touchscreen but I see your point with all the CP buttons.

Wow, that is fairly awesome to the extreme.

Touch screen and powered over usb?  That's pretty nifty.

I had my eye on these recently. I honestly don't know much about them, but they sure do look appealing.

I have a 7" Lilliput touchscreen in my truck that runs my stereo system and  Mame games. The Lilliput is easy to take apart for custom mounting and it has a vga input (and RCA video input). The touchscreen is used like a mouse and it uses a usb plug.

Most of the people at mp3car.com use 7" touchscreens in their cars. They have a great forum like this one.

Here is a Deal site w/ a link and coupon code for a 16" Dell LCD for $71.
http://www.dealcatcher.com/dell-sb-coupons

Size is 12"x15". Resolution is 1366 x 768 / 60 Hz
Wouldn't be able to mount it under the standard monitor like the 7".
Maybe between the speakers up top would work.
