JLF-TP-8T Long Shafts?

Hey Guys - I'm in the process of bottom mounting my joysticks - I've got 2 U360's and 2 JLF's. The panel's total thickness is 3/4", only 1/2" of which is wood (the other 1/4 is plexi). If you've ever had both of these joysticks in your hand, you'll note that the stock U360 shaft is about 3/16's longer than the JLF, meaning you've got to get a little creative with the mounting in order to have them line up with even height on the top.

Anyway - after spending far too much time scratching our heads on how to tackle this, it looks like we need to look at long shafts - the mounting/woodworking side of things isn't an issue...that's the easy part. The issue is we've got 1/2" of wood to work with, a screw mounting kit that is 1/4" long from the top, and we somehow need to be able to have one of the joysticks 3/16" "higher" than the other to compensate. In english, we don't have enough wood to work with on the bottom - so we're looking at doing a superficial sink depth on the bottom to sink the plates, and then run long shafts up to the top.

So - I know where to get the U360 long shafts...but can't find any information on long shafts for the JLF-TP-8T? Can anyone point me to where I might buy these, and how much longer they are than stock?

Either recess the bottom to leave 1/4" material or top mount them. I did a JLF top mount guide [here] if it helps.

Hi Franco - so can I assume there are not long shafts available for the JLF sticks then?

I'd consider top mounting but how did you get it flush with the wood to accept artwork on top when you've got screw heads (even flat as you've got them) sitting on top? I would assume you'll have a small depression where the plate is if you pushed down on the art?

I'd also appreciate a recommendation on the mounting screws - I don't have a CNC machine at my disposal unfortunately.

There arn't any longer shafts that I know off. Keep in mind that longer shafts will increase the throw above the panel and will also make the stick 'lighter'.

Just get some screws etc with a low profile head and increase the depth of the recess so that the screws sit below the top of the wood, thats how mine are.

You don't notice any visible signs of there being a "hole" with the artwork on?

My primary concern is how it will look - I might check Lee Valley to see if they have some flat topped bolts.

No problems with my current stick as its 0.012" stiff carbon fibre. For my other sticks I'm going to put a sheet of thin card between the CP and artwork if it does sag.

sorry if off topic, just need advice. I have the JLF-TP-8YT on order which i assume is the same as the JLF-TP-8T, i'm starting to design my arcade box out of plexiglass 4.5mm thick.

Because the JLF-TP-8YT has a mounting plate, would 4.5mm be to thick to bottom mount the joystick?

I'm going off this diagram that i obtained from Shoryuken forums, should i drill the hole on the plexiglass 21.3mm as stated on diagram?
