strange joystick behavior
« on: March 30, 2009, 03:08:26 am »
I actually am not sure if this problem is MALA specific or if its actually a MAME or IPAC issue as this is my first arcade controller I have made. What keeps happening though is when i move a joystick a direction it isn't registering as a continuous movement. The character will take a couple steps and stop and i need to tap the joystick again, and again...and again...basicly forcing me to have to keep hitting the joystick to keep movement going. I tried changing keyboard polling from 200 to 500 and then down to 25 to see if it would change anything, but no luck.
Thanks in advance for all the help everyone! Its great to have a community like this you can come to for these issues :)

When my controller is past testing stages and is complete i will post some pics if anyone is curious to look at another arcade controller

the problem was a ps2-usb adapter i was using, when I plugged it into my desktop with a ps2 port directly it was no problem, however its a moot point now. i seem to have killed it since it doesnt work at all anymore.  :badmood:

basically i noticed 2 jumper setting, one for ps2 and one for usb,I saw the little board lead offs and assumed it was for a usb header.I remembered having a couple usb cords with those kind of ends so i hooked it up and plugged it in and it didnt work so i figured oh well i was wrong, except now its totally dead. I'm so frustrated since i was so close to having this thing done, but its my own fault, so i can only be mad at myself for killing it.  :'(
so next paycheck i guess im ordering a new usb IPAC 4 *sigh*
