OK well I'm going to start out by saying that I went to this auction because it was very close to my house. This auction took place on 3/28/09 in Farmingdale, NY (on Long Island). Many people from BYOAC, and KLOV have slammed this guy, and this auction and that it's "supposidly" a scam. That being said I went any way just to see what it was like. As it turns out they actually had a decent selection of things from a few handful of classics, pins, and redemption / sit-down drivers. I met up with a fellow klover for moral support since it was my first auction that I was going to bid on because of what they had available. The guy who runs the auctions his name is pete. I called pete after the auction had ended the next day because I left a personal item at the auction, and sure enough he held it, and returned it to me. All and all I don't think it's a scam at all, anyone that tells you it is doesn't want more competiton at the auction.

I ended up buying 2 classics, 1 was actually one of my grails! konami/centuri's Circus Charlie in the original cabinet working I payed $150.00. The other classic I snatched up was Namco/Atari's Dig Dug in a dedicated original l atari cabinet working for $130.00. Don't worry I'll soon fully restore them to their former glory!

Here is a list of other games they had with some prices. I didn't take down alot because I wasn't interested in redemption stuff or driving games etc.. :

Ms. Pacman (Awesome condition new painted sideart, glass etc fully restored)- $650.00
Circus Charlie - $150.00 - I bought this.
Donkey Kong Jr. (monitor needed cap kit / new tube) - $100.00

Tekken 3 - $185.00

Rush 2049 - 1250.00
DDR- 1600.00
NBA Showtime - 200.00
Neo Geo 6 Slot - 150.00
Starburst Coin Pusher - 400.00
Robotron 2084 (awsome condition) - 300.00
Capcom Bowling (in a midway cabinet)- 150.00
Jr. Pacman dedicated (with large marquee no sideart) - 350.00
Lethal Enforcers II - 300.00
Rad Mobile - 125.00
Multi 39-1 - 470.00
Sammy Trophy Hunting Bear & Moose - 750.00
A.P.B (With seat, great shape) - 150.00
Virtua Fighter 2 - ?
NFL Blitz 2000 Gold / NBA Showtime - 170.00
1945 Strikers III (25'' Monitor) - 115.00
Badlands (driving) - 60.00
Dig Dug (missing bezel, and side art) - 130.00 - I bought this.
Neo Geo 1-slot - 125.00

Stuff they had that I didn't jot down the price:
Dinoscore
Clean sweep crane
toy story crane 3x
deal or no deal crane
treasure chest crane
magic box crane 2x
maximum force
capcom vs. snk in mk4 cabinet
golden t four 2005

neo geo 6-slot (world heros jet,bust a move,samari showdown,fatal story,real bout,aero fighters 2)
turbo out run
champion sprint
rival school
crusin usa
out run 2
hydro thunder
rampage
teraburst
crisis zone
crusin exotica
house of the dead 2
nascar arcade
area 51 site 4
police 911
dynamo air hockey
2x dynamo pool tables

Random:
Rowe Change machine - 385.00

Pins:
Terminator 3 - 1800.00
Space Shuttle - 350.00
Williams Slugfest - 875.00
Fish Tales - 950.00
Starship Troopers - 1000.00
World Poker - ?
Bally Fireball nice shape - 1100.00
Who Dunnit - 750.00
Playboy -?
Ripley's Believe it or not - ?
Striker Xtreme

They also had a buncha stuff im leaving out like redemption, but i'm not into that stuff so i really didn't even take down any of the names.

So again to re-cap all and all I thought I got a decent deal on those two classic cabinets I bought. Should you read about the scam this and scam that it sounds to me like people don't want competition at this venue. Maybe he has changed from previous auctions, but I will be returning to the next event he has especially being that it's so close to my house.

Where should I be looking (online?) so that I don't miss one of these again? I'm twenty minutes from there and would have gone just to check things out if nothing else.

Thanks.

Yeah I couldn't believe it that I was able to track down CC in the original dedicated centuri cabinet. It's funny Circus Charlie was pretty much the main reason as to how I got into this hobby actually. I played that game when I was younger in sleep away camp in the video game rec-room. And about I'd say 5 years ago found a way to replay it in MAME, and then realized how damn good I was with Gun.Smoke, built a dedicated one of those just to beat the world record... And now I'm starting to get more into original / dedicated machines.

Don't get me wrong I still have a great appreciation for MAME but it's almost like mp3's vs. a vinyl record, they just aren't the same. As for the dig-dug cabinet.. It's on my list of games that I wanted to own but it's not on the "top" of my list, I just grabbed it because it was the original cabinet / working and it was pretty cheap. I have compiled a list of about 125 classics / games that I would like to own. Of that large list maybe only 10-15 games are highlighted my must-owns, and circus charlie was deffinatley one of them. I kept just buying PCB's and they started to just sit on a shelf.. now it's time to start snatching up cabinets.

Did you have to put quarters in it?

While at camp, or at the auction ? They were both set to free play. At my house I'd like to actually have everything on quarters. Not to make money, but to keep the feel.

here is a cool shot of my mini row starting to form. Missing from this row is a dedicated sega's "Pengo" that I also bought this past weekend from a local collector. But it's currently in storage until I have more available space once I move to a new house in a few months.

Do you have Pete's contact info,  I checked Craigslist and couldn't find anything, I also am close to Farmingdale
The fact that a mint Robotron went for 300$ is making me crazed with anger :banghead:  :timebomb: :soapbox:

Before you get too excited, read the related threads at KLOV -- this guy seems to have a history.

It is hit and miss with this guy. You remember that robotron? That was the SAME exactg robotron I saw 1.5 years ago. Same damage to lower left hand corner. 1.5 years ago it soldd for $800.

At the very least i want to take measurements of that Robotron, especially the screen to see if I have the same size play area on my TV cab,  I think our tolerance in this country for scams is at an all time low, and the fact that these guys "may" be using this hobby to execute a scam is disapointing, but thanks for letting me know becasue its pretty clear that the Robo never went for 300$, never has and never will.

If you want general size measurements, then I can do those in a couple of minutes (I have a Robotron sitting right beside me in the kitchen).

If you want measurements that you can build a Replicab (tm) from, then I probably am not the guy to do it (it'll take me forever to get to it and I swore to myself a while back that I wouldn't do detailed measurements of cabs again).

Cheffo, all I want is the Height and width of the BOX that goes around the play area, the same box that is not present in Wave 9, that would be awsome!!!!!!!  Thats really all I care about,  I keep feeling like mine is too big

My first cabinet in that picture was originally a robotron 2084 which was converted to Bubble Bobble, and then I restored it / kept it bubble bobble.

Before you get too excited, read the related threads at KLOV -- this guy seems to have a history.

Which Is why I had to let everyone know, because it seems as though other locals don't want competition, Unless he changed his ways ? I'm not sure. At the end of the day I was happy with my purchases.

I was going to attend this one as well, but was hesitant because like you I had heard about it being a scam and lots of shill bidding. I'm sorry I didn't attend now. It would have been nice to meet some fellow arcade enthusiasts. I will definitely keep an eye out for the next one.

There are some Ops that you just can't figure out -- they're good as gold to some folks, lie blatantly and are complete ---punks--- to other folks.

It is also a possibility that he finally got tired of holding all of this stuff and the auction was more legit this time.

I haven't bought, or even bothered to get bidding card, at our local auction (and they happen every 6-8 weeks) in years -- partly because all they have lately is crap, partly because I know it will be shilled.

I go anyway because the networking with other collectors (IMPO, the absolute best source for finding stuff) and potential for impromptu swap meets is far more valuable than the auction itself. We've actually gotten to the point that more stuff changes hands in the parking lot next door than does at the auction.

Sorry -- I missed this yesterday. Are you talking about the bounding box on the screen itself ? Right now that cab has a monitor issue (it's possessed!), but I have it set so that it pretty much fills the screen (which is 19" arcade monitor) ?

Did you have to put quarters in it?

While at camp, or at the auction ? They were both set to free play.

I meant at camp. I figured as much. The graphics and theme are cute, but after finding out about the game from this post, and dilligently attempting to play it a couple score of times, I decided it wasn't great. I never would've put more than a single quarter in it - but if it was free, I might've played with it a few times....
