Hooking up a PC without a PC case--Questions

To save on space, I am hooking up the PC in my mini cab without a pc case.  The questions i have are in regard to powering up the pc without teh case power button.  How does one go about powering up the pc with just using keyboard on ATX stuff or in an AT power supply just using the power supply on\off switch?

I'm sure its a very simple way that im just missing.

Any advice on this would be great.

You can power it up via keystroke/mouse press if you set up that option in your bios.  Also you could wire up/extend the wires from the mobo power switch header all the way up to a momentary contact button nestled somehwhere on you machine.

For example: my power switch is located in a recessed "hole" on teh bottom of the cabinet near the left front corner...  Others are often mounted simliarly on the top of cabinets right above/behind/adjacent to the marquee... and others still mount it on the back of the cabinet too I guess...

Whats the easy way to attached teh wires to the bare pins on the MoBo for this sort of hook up and any do's\don't would be great too.  I dont want to end up frying the MoBo because i miswire the thing, lol.

Here's the thread I was referring to  To be sure you aren't frying you mobo be sure to consult your mobo's manual (which mobo is it?)  I assume it's an ATX semi-modern mobo, eh?

The pin spacings on those pins are standard - you can pick up a spare connector somewhere that will snap right on.  Easiest thing to get might be a cdrom audio cable, and just use two of the wires.  

If you use a pin or tiny screwdriver, the wires and contacts can be removed from cdrom audio and similar connectors - the quick connects for pushbuttons could be crimped right to the other end of those, no soldering at all.

oh, and the pc power button is just a momentary contact switch.  Identical to pushbuttons.  pc power switch is closed when button is pressed.

yeah, hacking any of those is real easy.  There are hard drive LED and power LED pins on that same bank that you could attach to lights somewhere.
