Golden Tee find.....
« on: March 20, 2009, 09:15:33 am »
So yesterday for lunch I went to eat at Taco bell (bad choice I know,) which happens to sit next to a Salvation Army. I looked inside S.A. and low and behold they had A Golden Tee 3D arcade game for sale. I went inside to check it out and the cab itself was in fairly decent condition. I asked the clerk if I could plug it in and she of course said I could, and when I turned it on the Marquee light came on but the game didn't. When I turned it off I noticed the monitor powered on so I figured I could at least buy the game for the monitor.

I asked to speak to the manager to negotiate a price considering it wasn't 100% working, and he was willing to come down significantly on the price. I came back later during the day to pick it up and one of the workers looked at me like I was getting ripped off and after I explained to him that I wanted the monitor he shrugged it off and left it alone.

Now the good part is when I got home I pulled the back panel off and OF COURSE the damn PCB wasn't plugged in to the harness  :laugh2:   after plugging it back in and powering it on a sly grin crept on my face, cuz everything works 100%. I played a few holes and powered it down.  Just goes to show going on a hunch can go a long way, I will post pics tomorrow (at work at the moment  )

P.S. I plan on selling the PCB, trackball, harness, and marquee if anyone is interested please send me a PM...I only wanted the monitor and if anyone wants the cab I will sell that too. I live in VA.

I had a similar deal like that a couple years ago. Bought a machine with a "dead" monitor, played blind. Turned out monitors require electricity to function  ;D.

Do you mind me asking how much it was?

EDIT: My bad. Forgot you were working on selling most of the guts and such.

That a great find! :o

Every Friday after work I used go for a beer and a game of Golden Tee but as of last week the pub has got rid of the machine and replaced it with gambling machines.
Shame I was getting quite good
