joystick button combinations
« on: March 18, 2009, 11:17:02 am »
Is there any way to define joystick button combinations for different funcions. In MAME I use several buttons + start button for functions that I don't want accidentally pressed, like quit, reset, etc. Something like this in the frontend for quit or switch orientation would be fantastic too.

PD: sorry for asking so many questions in a very short period of time, but I'm in the process of creating my layout, etc and I'm really excited about it :)

I use a JPAC (or an IPAC) which you can have 'shift' button options.  You press the 1UP button in combination with another key to do this.

Outside of a hardware solution, i'm not sure how easy it would be to do this.  You may be able to set a button as an ALT or CTRL key, and use a combination of buttons to do what you want.  Although you can run into some problems if you still need the button for gameplay (as ALT and CTRL are common for windows shortcut keys).
