X-Arcade modding
« on: March 17, 2009, 11:42:17 am »
Hey Guys...need your input on this...In the near future I am going to upgrade the Tankstick I have...and I was wanting to replace the joysticks and replace the switches for the pushbuttons and joystick switches...

The Joysticks I want to get are the ones that I can switch from 8 to 4 way by lifting the stick up and twisting left to right or vice versa...( but I don't know what brands they are...Can someone point me in the right direction? Also can they fit in a Tankstick?)

The Pushbutton switches...I was going to see about getting Cherry switches ( am I correct...those are the best ones?)

The trackball...no matter how much I clean it....it wants to stick for some reason...I wiped the trackball and the "bearing rollers" with rubbing achohol...couple days later....stills sticks...( kinda like something gets caught in between the ball and rollers) Its not a dire emergency, just slight annoyance for me...

Like I said...I am not in a big hurry, I just need brands to keep in my head for when I start...

See this thread for 4/8 way joystick info.  Mounting may be slightly different then the tankstick joys.  Check the diagram on the Ultimarc site.

Cherry micros are good.

Trackball rollers and bearings should be cleaned but then lubricated internally with lite oil. You may have to soak them to clean them completely.
