arcade locks
« on: March 16, 2009, 01:08:35 pm »
I have a midway mortal kombat 2 cabinet with a coin door and the security type door below it. There are both missing key locks and was wondering if anyone knows the size or where to purchase locks for this cabinet? Thanks

I got mine from Happ controls. happcontrols.com. They were 1 1/8" Cam locks. You can get them at the hardware store too.

Whoops, the coin doors were 7/8" and the back door was a 1-1/8". But I was close :D

   7 30-2225-631     LOCK 7/8" SB KA KEY 631           2      0     3.05       6.10
                    W/ 1-1/4" CAM AND 2 KEYS
   8 30-2226-631    LOCK 1-1/8" SB KA KEY 631          1      0     3.05       3.05
                    W/1-1/4 CAM & 2 KEYS

It was not for a midway cab, but a Dynamo HS-1. But knowing the name of the part, all you need now is a ruler to figure out the barrel length of the lock you need.

How much and how easy do you think it would be just to walk into a homedepot or osh and get these?

At Homedepot, they'll probably be overpriced and sold in packs of at least 2 for $9.99 or more. They might call them cylinder cam locks. You'll find them deep down in the cabinetry hardware area where they have handles and knobs. Pulling off this job won't be easy however. I hear that the lock the doors at 8pm and the cam locks are REALLY far down the cabinet hardware aisle.

Home depot sells them in single packs (make sure to match lock numbers if you want the same key for all locks).  $4.69 for a single 7/8" lock and $5.19 for a single 1 1/8" lock.  Still over priced but considering you save shipping they're not TOO bad.
