MAME controller help
« on: March 12, 2009, 02:16:03 am »
I have a controller hooked up to my pc for when playing mame, but when I don't have it hooked up, i cannot access anything in the Tab menu, making my games unplayable since I can't alter the controls to keyboard. I'm running mame 32 version 0.81. I need help so I can have both choices

Newbie in working on cabs, expert in playing, breaking, moving slowly, and overall failing at them too.

I'm assuming you have the controller somehow mapped to "Config Menu" (normally mapped to tab).

Start mame with controller plugged in, press what you use to enter the menu, select the UI inputs, scroll down to "Config Menu", press enter, press what you use from the controller, wait until mame registers your input, press enter again, press tab on you keyboard, wait, then exit mame.

More details at mameDev FAQ.  Look at the OR and AND part near the end of this FAQ.
