Stuf for sale - Spring Cleaning! [CA\ON\BARRIE]
« on: March 09, 2009, 11:41:42 pm »
Spring cleaning time! I have 6 60L Rubbermaid totes full of gaming/electronics stuff and some of it has to go, my office closet is packed! ALL prices in CAD, see bottom of post for more info and USD info!

1: Modified v1.4 Xbox - TSOP Flashed (Modchip, without the modchip) SOLD

2: Modified Model 2 Sega Saturn

- Modchip fitted will play backups. Imports require one of those special carts, or what I've done is backup the import and patch it for US region.

- Reset and Eject buttons are grey, from PAL Saturn. I don't recall why I didn't change the power button too, but I know it's on a connector for the power supply (Maybe it was a different connector at the PSU?)

- 3 controllers - 2 Black Sega brand Japanese Mark II (w/ Turbo and Slow-Mo switches on rear) controllers and 1 3rd party controller. (I absolutely cannot stand the US controllers, they went bye-bye in favor of the JP ones)

- 12 retail games, discs only. Games in good shape and play, but not collectors quality by any means, silly me discarded the cases long ago and put them in a binder.
I'm putting a condition rating beside them based on what I feel them to be, none are scratch-less, but all DO play.
I got them with the Saturn, and they were "abused" prior to my use of them.

1: Virtual On (Condition B)
2: Daytona USA (Condition B+)
3: Sonic 3D Blast (Condition B)
4: Virtua Cop (Condition C+)
5: Thunder Strike 2 (Condition B+)
6: Virtua Fighter 2 (Condition B+)
7: Fighter's Megamix (Condition B)
8: NBA Jam Extreme (Condition C)
9: Tomb Raider (Condition B+)
10: NBA Action 98 (Condition C)
11: Command & Conquer (2 Discs) (Condition B+)
12: The Mansion of Hidden Souls (Condition C+)

Game shown is a copy of Bubble Bobble + Rainbow Islands, on Rainbow Islands attract screen. Bubble Bobble is my all time favorite game, and was still in there so I fired it up and took a pic.

1 of the other Sega pads is in a box with some of the other things right now, there are 2 of them. I will clean the system up a bit before shipping, I didn't realize it was that dusty until I saw the pic.

Asking $75 + shipping

3: Logitech Wingman Attack Flight Stick (Gameport version)

I LOVE this stick, but the only computer I have in the house with a Gameport happens to be the box running MAME in one of my cabs.
I don't really have much use for it there, so it's got to go! (Something tells me I'll regret it, but with 2 Ultrastik 360s in that cab....I doubt it)

Asking $8 + shipping

4: 2x Microsoft Sidewinder (Gameport version)

Same deal as the Wingman, but I really have no use for them in general.

These daisy chain together so using both on 1 Gameport is possible.
I found them ok, but long since upgraded to newer pads.

They've been sitting for a LONG time and could probably use taken apart and cleaned, but they do work.
Probably a good candidate for hacking some arcade controls to.
Only 1 pictured, but they're identical.

Asking $8 for the pair + shipping

5: Platinum Gamecube Top (Original Nintendo)

- Works great, swapped out for a full disc lid. Nintendo jewel not included, what's in the picture is what you get.

:?: Make an offer + shipping

6: 2x Playstation AV cables, 1 Dreamcast S-Video cable + 1 Dreamcast controller extension cable.

- Sony brand Playstation AV cables

- 3rd Party Dreamcast S-Video cable (Was offered to stayjacked1, but he did not reply in his own thread after making another post, if you still want this dude LMK! Otherwise it's up for grabs!)

- Dreamcast controller extension cable. I'm pretty sure it's 6' long, too lazy to hunt my tape measure down.

Asking $3 per cable, or take em all for $10. + Shipping

7: Black (Dark gray?) Playstation 1 Dual Shock controller (Sony brand)

- Works great, but I don't need a whole bunch of them, and I'm keeping my crystal edition controllers!

Asking $5 + shipping

8: 2 hand-held GO games - Helicopter Attack and Ice Hockey+Car Racing

- Helicopter attack works, sounds and all. Pic shows it on and running. Takes AA batteries.

- Ice Hockey+Car Racing, I know this works, but the battery is dead. Takes some small button cells.

Asking $15 for the pair + shipping

9: Safe Buster Game and Watch - Dual Screen

- In very good shape, with minor wear on the case outer. Art sticker has no tears or anything beyond minor little nicks.

- Works, found some batteries and tested and took a video. See below.

- Both screens in perfect shape and function correctly.

Asking $45 + Shipping - May seem steep, but check out Ebay or some of the Japanese sites for this stuff. My asking price is actually low in comparison. I'm not letting this go cheaper when I know I could take it to the right place and get more, but I'm not greedy I just don't have much use for it anymore.

10: 1 original Dreamcast controller + 1 Madcatz 6 button Dreamcast controller

- Both work great, but I got a total of 7 pads when I bought a system years ago. Never have had a use for these.

Asking $6 each or $10 for the pair + shipping

11: Hamer Electric Guitar + Aria Pro II Amp + Stand

- Mint condition, I bought it thinking I'd want to learn, and it's just not my thing.

- Brand new (literally installed 15 minutes prior to editing this post) Rotosound Nickel strings installed, 10g-46g strings.

- Aria Pro II 10w RMS amp. Plenty loud for the little amp it is, not a wake the neighbors amp obviously. Has built in electronic tuner.

- Adjustable padded stand

- Extra 10g nickel string (Came in the pack, I don't need it) and 6' (I think) patch cord included but not shown

Probably wouldn't want to ship it, but I may if you really want to.

I paid well over $400 for all this when I bought it, and it's barely been used. I'm just not into learning to play.

Asking $250

Will be adding a Panasonic FZ-1 3DO with 4 controllers and some other things later. No games with the 3DO, I sold them to a collector with a VERY generous offer that wanted 2 extremely rare games I apparently had. (I have run backups in this though, so I know it still works :D )

Not looking for trades really, and I think these prices are pretty fair but I'm not adverse to negotiating if you're wanting more than 1 item. Shipping would also be calculated for everything you want together, not each item.
I can take EMT (I think, I've used it once to send money, but I've never received one), a check or MO (Will need to clear before I send) if you really want to go that route, or Paypal (You will need to cover the fees if you want to use Paypal, at 3% on the total)

All prices in CAD! This is listed over on CGCC as well, so I'm opting for continuity here in pricing. If you'd like a price in USD, visit www.xe.com/ucc and convert, and then round up to the nearest dollar!

I'm not entirely familiar with modded xboxes, but I've heard it will act as an upconverting media player. Is this true?
Will it play 720P divx files? Oh, and what size Hard Drive?

It will upconvert to 720p or 1080i... but there really isn't enough memory to do 1080i well enough.  720p is the practical limit and it does that very well.  It will TRY to play native 720p but doesn't really have the horsepower and it chokes.  If your network is good it streams well enough that the hard drive size is irrelevant for media - only matters for games in that scenario.  Don't count on using it as a DVD player as the drives are very very erratic on anything other than OEM games.

So, can I rip discs and thumb drives to the XBOX harddrive? It would be nice to plug in a thumb drive or portal HD, and offload the whole thing onto player. I don't have a home network, so that is out.

You can get a wireless adapter for it if you have that capability.  Or just plug it into a WAP.

I haven't done it but I believe the controller ports are straight USB with an alternate connector.  I've read you can swap that out with a standard USB and then pop in a thumb drive.  I am not sure if you can use an external hard drive that way.

The hard drive in the Xbox is the stock 8GB drive.

Thumb\Pen drives are possible with a simple homemade adapter or you can buy them for cheap, the Xbox uses USB with an extra 3.3v wire for a pulse signal that ties to the horizontal sync, it's irrelevant here as that signal is only there for things light light guns etc

http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xbox_Linux_USB_HOWTO

Not sure if external hard drives will work, that would depend on how the enclosure communicates with the bus most likely.

As for playing DVDs being erratic, I've never experienced this on ANY Xbox drive (I have every drive type there ever was made, including a stockpile of 15 spare Samsung drives). The only time this would happen, is with poor media copied DVDs.

I've done 5-6 of them and they all had issues with anything but OEM games.  Commercial DVDs have been only marginally better than DVDRs.  It's also very very common to see on the xbox-scene forums.  Those drives become finicky pretty fast.

Well thanks for crapping my thread up with misinformation from the minority, but you're wrong.

Certain drives don't like certain blank media, primarily CD-R.

Maybe you're confusing the PS2 with the Xbox, but there are no problems reading blanks let alone pressed DVD movies, unless you have a drive with a dying laser.......which has nothing to do with the system itself in general.

There's more references I can point to than that, all you are doing is crapping my thread up with misinformation posted by the minority in "Help me! I are n00b!" threads that you come across everywhere.

You may have done 5 or 6 systems, I can counter that with component level repairs, over 50 systems modded and probably well over 100 DVDROM repairs/rebuilds. Crap elsewhere please.

And for anyone looking at the Xbox, it reads CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R just fine. This is a straggler I haven't bothered to sell, I have 3 others in the house I'm keeping.

Sorry, bro,  that's my experience.  100%.  And everyone I've ever talked to says similar things... don't bother with the Xbox as a dvd player.  As a media streamer it is fantastic.  Top of the line.  It's just not a good DVD player.

And there are a lot of XBMC users around here so you're not really going after folks who don't know about modded Xboxes on this forum.   :dunno

I'll agree with both points regarding the DVD player.  My Xbox is modded but I was playing several different DVDs.  Not copies, but original DVDs.  They weren't scratched or smudged either.  They were unwatchable until I "cleaned" the laser on the Xbox with one of those fancy smancy laser cleaners.

To be honest, I never believed that the laser cleaner disc would do anything.  I basically threw it in as a last resort (kinda like telling a woman that you love her!).  I haven't had any problems since.

Back on topic, good luck with the sale.

EDIT: Very poor spelling...  :-[

Xbox pending payment Sold

I found me some batteries in hiding for the Game & Watch. Fired right up and as I already knew, works perfect.

I took a crappy video with my camera. Beware, it's quite loud due to me being so close and the mic on the camera obviously exceeding the actual camera quality tenfold.......see first post.

Not gaming related, but I added my Hamer electric guitar + amp + stand to the first post.
Maybe someone here is interested, I'll be throwing it up on the usual classifieds later too.

Edit: I also found my Saturn AV cable. My wife pulled another "Get yer crap out of my living room and dining room!" and stuck it in a box she tossed in my office. Pics included and now for sale!
