Punch Out Arcade Replacement Plexiglass
« on: March 03, 2009, 07:40:32 pm »
I am currently working on my first restoration. I am restoring a Punch Out Arcade machine. The plexiglass has very deep scratches, too deep for Novus to work. Does anyone know where to get custom made plexiglass, or how to remove deep scratches from plexiglass? Please..... anyone...... helppppppp!!!!!

You might be able to have your hardware store cut it to fit. Also, glass dealers will do it. You may want to try tempered glass. It costs a bit more, but is scratch resistant (plexi sucks) and breaks safely (tiny pieces). Glass shops will cut it to size and even tint it for you. Search for previous threads on the merits plexi, lexan, glass and tempered glass.

There is a slight bend about halfway to the bezel on a Punchout. It's the division between the dual screens.

Talk to your local sign shops, there ought to be someone around that also does plexi work.
And that would be a very simple piece for them. They can use your old one as an example.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

I found a place today to do the plexiglass for me. It is not plexiglass it is called lexican or something. The guy quoted me $75.00 for the smoked glass with the bend. I am really excited  ;D yay The original plexiglass looks like it has black paint around the edges, do I need to have that if I have bezzels to put around the monitors what do you guys think?
