Hi,
I am building the mameroom wall mounted jukebox and would liek some recommendations for speakers. Would these be any good if I could take the case off to make smaller? http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=XC5183&keywords=active+speakers&form=KEYWORD

or how about these? http://www.minicades.com/www/416/1001168/displayproduct/sound-kit--1001248_arcade-parts--1001227_.html

Also I'm getting the kit form version so the control panel will be locked into their plan but does anyone know if it is possible to get buttons othere than the ones they recommend you buy from Happ as I would liek to illuminate all the buttons and not just the 2 big triangle ones?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Sean

That minicade amp looks like a T-amp, which are very good. But combined with the speakers they show I don't know. Cheap paper-cone speakers for that price? They are shielded though.

Here someone hacked the amp in a serious audiophile case that matches the sonic qualities of that amp.

$200 for an amp and speakers is crazy even if it is in $AUS.   A good PC speaker set decased would be a heck of alot cheaper and probably sound better unless you moded that amp (Hiss and No Bass) and changed the speakers.

But investmentwise it may be OK. I guess if you hack the amp as showed in my link (50$ of extra components), you can put it on Ebay in 2015 for 300$ and still be able to sell it
T-amp is a magic word

Hi,

I am building the mameroom wall mount jukebox http://www.mameroom.com/ProductDetail.asp?ID=JUKEBOXKIT

and I need help to choose some speakers. Obviously because it is wall mount space for speakers is a premium. I have heard car stereo speakers and amps wired to run off pc power supply work weel but my skills in doing that arent quite up to scratch so I would prefer normal pc speakers. I was htinking that maybe a set with wireless remote would be good so the vomlume could be controlled form across the room.

i found these on jaycar website http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...s&form=KEYWORD

and these from logitech http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/sp.../4713&cl=au,en

Do you think either of these would give good sound in a jukebox as obviosuly sound is of the utmost imprtance.

i am open to any and all recommendations.

Thanks

Sean

Those speakers that come with the t-amp are the sort of thing you would get inbuilt into a TV or something.

Not worth the money you would spend on freighting them even if they were free.

The T-amp is good value, but not from them. There are deals to be had on the same chip on a bare board on ebay from hongkong/mainland china - http://stores.shop.ebay.com/VirtualVillage-USA and http://stores.ebay.com/I-Wanne-Buy-Shop have things that are about the same, less the plastic case you will never see for around AU$30 to your door within a week.

Then go to the local crap auto accessory place (supercheap most likly), pick up some speakers and save the $150 you saved on that deal on beer or something else fun.

so you think one of these t-amps from the links you sent me and some car speakers are the way to go over normal pc speakers?

The amps in PC speakers are an unknown, there are some that are good, but loads have a single chip that can put out about half a watt if you are lucky.

If you get the t-amp on a board, its proven to be quite ok. Plus its 12v so there is no probs putting it on the PC power supply, wheras PC speakers normally are mains powered so you have to make something to switch it.

And when you get PC speakers and dont use the speakers you are wasting money on them.

Just get something better then some one way paper coned crap like they wanted $200 for. A friend got some cheap 6.5" soundstreams for his car and they were pretty good for the price.

The 15 watt one is the one you would want to go for, they are 12v powered, whereas if you can find a more powerful one they normally need higher voltages and a negative one in some cases.

I used 6" car speakers on my mameroom jukebox, that came with grills.
