Metal Slug
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:15:53 pm »
Hi all,
I have the latest version of Mame (0.129u5) on my XP pc with a few roms working fine on it but I cannot get the Metal slug games to work.
I have the "Neogeo.zip" in the rom directory, the games loads to 80% then goes back to mame.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx
Dominique

Methinks you're missing the Neo-Geo BIOS.

And don't ask where to get it!!!  ;)
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

have you verified your roms with clrmame pro or rombuilder? to make sure they are indeed intact?

I just played all the way through metal slug tonight, fun game :)

Sorry I posted to another topic instead of replying but this is what I posted:

Hi all,
I have the weirdest problem!
I have 2 versions of Mame running on my windows XP machine : Mame 32 and the latest dos version (0.129u5) . They both share the same roms directory where I only put 1 game "Metal Slug3", I also have the neo geo bios file in there. Mame32 runs the game fine but impossible to get it to work with the DOS version (and as you can imagine that's the one I need). The game loads to 85% then go back to DOS, I see the message "missing file or CHD blah blah blah" flickering.
I tried an older version of mame but same problem.....  any idea because I'm lost?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx
Dominique

Have you checked maws to see if you do indeed have all the right filed in the MS.zip?

MAWS has been down for a while now...

sounds like the rom you have may not be the right version for the command line version of mame you are using

http://maws.mameworld.info/maws

So its .info now?

tsk tsk...

What are you saying?

The important part is the domain name is not under znet's control anymore.  This off line due to not renewed domain name seemed to happen every year, and the old domain was under znet's control.

There was a reason the mameworld forums went to .info a long while ago.

Yup.  From MAWS:

"last change(s)     .128u6 .128u5 .127u6 .109 .092 .090u4 .090u3 .084u6 ...." (bold added by me)
