Windows Vista and switching layouts
« on: March 01, 2009, 04:25:58 am »
Hello,

I recently have changed my mala development machine to Vista (long story) . I'm not sure it was such a good idea in hindsight as my PC now seems to run slower even though the hardware spec is OK.

Anyway I was horrified to see that the mala Layout switching looked crap. I mean switching between two different lists that use different layouts. Basically the whole screen re sized then went blank before the new screen loaded. Nothing like the smooth switching I have experienced with the much anticipated MaLa 1.6.

Anyway I ran another Virtual session of Vista on top of this and it worked fine so I guess the problem is not Vista in general but more to do with the hardware setup I have with vista

Has anyone else experienced this with Vista?

I am not too worried yet as I think XP is a better choice for a EMU machine and it worked with Vista fine on my virtual session.

I solved this.

MaLa works fine under Vista if you change the Apperance settings to something other than Aero  ;D

Having said that, After many weeks I really miss XP.

I really tried to give it a fair evaluation.

I can't see anything but disadvantages to using it other than some eye candy

Vista is not a good version of windows in my opinion. Well... not as bad as Windows me

I would actually prefer windows me over vista!

I'm running windows 7 on a netbook and let me tell you, it blows vista away and will be a worthy upgrade from XP.

Agreed, Windows 7 is much better than Vista, even the beta.  I can't wait for full release.  Mala works fine on 7.
