Hardware (the nuts and bolts kind)
« on: June 26, 2003, 02:48:21 pm »
I've checked every hardware store in town (Lynchburg, VA) and not a single one has 3/16" carriage screws in the 3 1/2" length I need to mount my Imperial trackball, much less in black or stainless steel.  Lowe's, Ace, True Value, none of them have what I need.  Not even the fastener supply has them.

Does anyone have extras or can point me to a good supplier where I won't have to spend $5 for shipping a $2 item?  Bob Roberts appears to have what I need but I don't want to pa $3.50 for 10 bolts, needing but four, and then pay $6 in shipping.  It would seem that it's cost *maybe* $1 to mail that set of hardware.

Thanks

John

I'd be surprised that Aces/true value DIDN:T have them.  I've bought them from both places before.  Both times I almost gave up and walked out.

It's in one of those little pull out plastic shelves/containers... with a grey label if I'm not mistaken...  If you asked someone, they mighta just been blind =P If you didn't ask someone, you shoulda =P

That's not to say that all true values/Aces stock them albeit not in black... but I imagine most would.

*shrug* Are you sure you need 3 1/2" ? I think I used 3" IIRC (which i probably don't)... are you saying they had 3/16" but not in the length you need?

Good luck!

I couldn't find any either.  Get them from Bob Roberts.  He has them.  Good price too, just like everything he sells. :)

Why don't you try emailing Bob. I'm sure he can send you 4 bolts in a badded envelope for $2 or $3 plus $3.xx shipping.

Did they have longer ones at the hardware stores? Take a dremel cut off disc, and shorten them.
Mucal invader, is there no end to your oozing?!
