Another video issue....
« on: February 26, 2009, 05:47:10 pm »
So, I pretty well had everything set up the way I wanted, but wasn't happy with my MAME layout.  Downloaded Sardu's "gameroom" layout from the MALA website, got it configured how I wanted it and....

MALA crashed when I first opened it.  The culprit is the emumovies videos as when I remove the "video" object from the layout or change the video folder target, everything works like a charm.  It will even play the NES/SNES/Genesis videos without issue.

So, why would changing the layout and nothing else cause MALA to crash when playing a video only on the MAME layout?  So frustrating...

The only codec I have installed on the machine is XVID, so it shouldn't be a codec issue for the record...

I have emumovies on a cab I built for family and noticed a one movie in the gamelist of about 100 games crashed Mala. It was SFIII or something like that. Also, I tried using the entire pack of hires movies as a screensaver and it always froze. Others have posted the same and the recommendation has been to remove the offending video and find another version of it. I don't know for sure if this works, but you could select a detailed error log and see if it lists the bad video.

It's not just one video as I put only one video in the target folder and it ran fine until I got to the game with the video then crashed.  This has happened with different videos, so it's got to be something other than that.

Thanks for the quick reply.
