CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT ARTWORK THIS IS??
« on: February 24, 2009, 10:11:41 pm »
Hey everyone I have a question about a arcade I just bought.  It's an Arkanoid arcade although the side art and the screen border/layout looks like it doesn't match the game..  The green flying bug thing looks like something from Galaxian but I'm not sure..  I went to www.klov.com but it just showed a plain cab and stated that many conversion kits were released of this game.. so...  does anyoneo know if this is just some random bootleg or does this artwork belong to a different arcade?  Here are some pics I took

Oh I felt that I should also post this because I thought it was hilarious..  The guy I bought it from said he didn't have the keys to the bottom coin door/box  so when I got home i broke it open with a crowbar..

I pulled out the coin box and what did I find inside..

LOL someones stash..  probably from the 90's because the guy said he had the arcade for a couple years and might be from the previous owner before him..  lol a blast from the past

Ha! I'm pretty sure this is the first documented, photographed case of finding pot in an arcade machine on this forum. You may want to share this extraordinary find over in arcade miscellaneous. You'll also get a hell of a lot more help figuring out what this cab is over there too.

Maybe you could resell that back to the guy you bought the arcade from for the same price you paid for it.

Some serious street value there.

:laugh2: ... nah, it looks like mostly stems  :laugh2:
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

As for your artwork, Im sure this is just generic art that was offered to vendors who didnt want to pay for the real thing back in the day.  About 1/2 of my collection is random, generic art that will universally fit just about any type of arcade.  I'd love to have full scans of all that though....

Oh really?  Do you happen to know by any chance where I can buy this "generic art" that was offered to vendors??  The reason I ask is because one of the previous owners was a freakin genious and decided to spray paint something next to the arcade and there's a black line running halfway down the left side..  I know, I know, brilliant..  But yeh I kinda like this artwork.  Pretty cool for being generic ykno.. looks like just a bunch of random 80s arcade space ships.

I dont have it in my collection.  I would kill to get all that too, it looks amazing.  You could see if one of the artwork vendors here in the forums might be able to see if they can make something close to that.

Oh cool maybe I'll just do that then.  Unless... is there a product that could remove the paint from the vinyl sticker w/o damaging the artwork..?   Ha.. I doubt it but if you have a suggestion I'll try it on a small section/sample..   Oh and as for that 20 year old bag of goodies, it apparently did have some big street value!  Even though it was full of shake, people were hitting me up for it like crazy.  I guess you can't find authentic 80's weed anywhere on the streets lol.

I'd love to do full scans for you, is there an easier way to scan it other than scanning sections at a time tho?

Im thinking you try to remove it, its just going to rip.  I wouldnt mess with it.  You could PM a member here named Mr. Do, ask him how he would approach scanning it.  He does it all the time.

Awesome guy, should give you some pointers.  Might take a little while for him to answer your emails, he's really busy.

Cool deal, I'll send him a PM.  Hopefully he has an easy method..

On a somewhat unrelated topic, I got ahold of the guy who sold me the Arkanoid arcade and asked him if it was his stash..  he was shocked and told me "No, no, me and my wife don't do that.  I never checked down there in the coin box"  LOL..  It's too bad tho,  I was hoping I could trade it back to him for the other arcade he's sellin which is a mint conition U.N. Squadron

Thanks Zorg.  I'm looking into buying one of those flatbed scanners this weekend.  That is, if I can find a decent priced one since I'm using it merely for this project.. that and I already own a dell scanner/printer.
