New Server
« on: February 15, 2009, 12:40:19 pm »
Thanks to SirWoogie's blood, sweat, and tears, we're now running on a new server and updated version of SMF - woot! Woogie's da man!

Please post in this thread if you notice anything not working properly or working oddly.

We are aware that your last unread/new pointers may be incorrect, but that should go away after your first logon. If it persists, let us know.

Just to let everybody know, all items were transferred. We should not have a single missing file or message.

If you do find something not working, please definitely post it here.

I have had more problems connecting over the last 2 or 3 days.

I am still seeing DNS resolution to the old server - putting into the hosts isnt a solution since that only affects the local machine, not the proxy at the ISP, and there is little chance they will do a hosts file entry.

Has the old one being removed from the config? I can be using the site and suddenly it will end up connecting to the old server and not work.

I'm getting the same thing at work using IE7. At home using Firefox it works fine.

I still get the old IP coming up on my home DNS server - its a standard 2003 server DNS, going out to the root servers, even if I clear its cache, ipconfig /flushdns on it and the client machines and reboot, sometimes its still coming back with the old IP.

Havent tried for a couple of days, so it may have finally expired, but if not I would question the need for a ttl that long.

The TTL has been set to an hour and has been so for well over a week. Prior to that, it was set at a day.

Now, WHOIS is still pointing at the old system. We'll be transitioning that shortly. I'm thinking you might want to ensure you don't have anything set in a hosts file or using a caching server that is not respecting the TTL.

Tomorrow morning actually (since I have been forgetting to do so for about 2 weeks now!)

While browsing my old posts and threads, I've encountered a few posts that appear to have the last half or so missing.  I imagine it is a side effect of the move and something got clobbered by an over greedy search and replace somewhere.

Can you point a couple out to look at?

Well, this message is cut off...

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=16381.msg130926#msg130926

as well as my reply which quoted it....

It appears that the single quote in the word "don't" got incorrectly matched in an SQL query somehow.

I've seen other posts with the same issue.  I'll add to this thread if I can find them.

Messages from around that time were cut to pieces a year or two ago.  I know my original thread where I chronicled the building of my first cabinet is now only bits and pieces of its original self, but thats how its been for a while now.

Downloading files still seems to have issues.
Particularly .zip and .pdf are what I have tried that don't work.
(don't know if it's all file types though)
