Do I have a problem with my Wiimote?
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:26:10 am »
I am new to the Wii world, but it seems that one of my Wii remotes is unable to pair with (or remain connected to) the Wii. I am not sure how it is supposed to work, hence my post here.

Just to be sure, I followed some instructions on the Nintendo website to remove all sync information from the Wii (by holding the sync button for 15 seconds at the health safety screen after power up), and then tried to pair each Wiimote. I pressed the red sync button inside the battery cover of the first remote and then pressed the sync button on the console. It comes syncs and the first blue led remains lit. Now should I be able to repeat this process with the second remote (all except the 15-second hold)? When I do, all four leds remain blinking, and it never seems to pair itself with the console.

If I repeat the above process to start from scratch but reverse the order of the wiimotes, the first one I try to pair (the potentially bad one) has all four lights blinking, but the next one will sync with the second led staying lit.

Does this sound like I should return the second remote? Sorry if this sounds confusing - if it does it's probably because I'm confused.

I can only speak from my own experience but syncing the wiimotes should happen once for each (if at all) and then when you first turn on the Wii the Wiimote you are using will blink once to show the battery life (lights one to four) and then the first light will stay lit. If you pick up a second wiimote the lights will also blink the battery life and the second led will stay lit.

If all four blink continuusly you need to press the red button on the wiimote and it should synk up.

If you buy a new wiimote you need to sync it.  The one that came with the system is supposed to be synced already.

I think I had to resync mine once time for no apparent reason.

You just hit the button on the system and then the one on the controller I think.  Its easy and the directions are in the  manual somewhere.

Take the batteries out of the controller and unplug the system too to give them both a hard reset.  I think that was the problem I had.

I tried a new wiimote and it worked without problems. So it turns out there is a problem with one of my wiimotes, and I will return it.

Thanks for the help.
