Changing Screen Orientation
« on: February 08, 2009, 11:01:33 pm »
Hey guys, I have an old Popeye machine and I wanna put a Donkey Kong board in it, but Donkey Kong uses a vertical orientation rather than Popeye's horizontal one, so my question is, how much trouble would it be for me to change the orientation? Would it just require detaching the screen, rotating it, and sticking it back on, or would it require more work? I haven't taken a look at it to see how much I would have to do yet, (It's in storage right now and I don't wanna drag it out if I can't do anything with it) but this is the type of machine I have:

The pic is from KLOV though

Take a look at the sides of the cab.  There should be extra mounting holes to facilitate changing the screen orientation. I am not sure how the brackets change but you can probably get an idea by looking at a detailed picture of a DK cab.   My DK jr cab had extra holes and I was told it was to change the monitor mounting.

Unplug it for a couple of days.  I've heard horror stories about rotating CRTs while their hot.  By which I just mean active.  You don't need to discharge it.
