original tempest Aux board question

this should be an easy answer but is there supposed to be 6 big z80 like size chips on the aux board or only 2. the 2 are audio I/O N-Channel MOS/LSI Custom chip

but the 4 spots where i believe the other ones are missing are well its called in the manual a transistor array...

im lost on this and wonder if they even had chips in there. thanks for the answers

Those are AM2901 chips which are bit slice processors.  Essentially, they process the vector math for Tempest, Battlezone, etc.  You can get them from www.coinopchips.com.  Look for them in the CPU/Processors section.
