New Gyruss Score!
« on: January 29, 2009, 08:01:17 pm »
This started out as a late night, very casual game before bed kind of thing. I noticed that the default settings allowed the first level baddies to lay mines, whereas it used to be they didn't. Some other things seemed a little different - this was MameUI 129.1, and actually a lot of games seem different than I'm used to - and perhaps a little harder. Lots of fun, though. There were SO many times I thought I was toast or should've been, and survived by VERY thin luck. Note - a trick in some of the hard spots is to move back and forth incrementally.

I think the farthest I've made it without dying:

Um, and not much farther....

Incidentally, after Earth, there's a special 'first' wave of a different kind of formation, then you get a true return to the first two waves at the beginning of the game, including starting music.

Doing a little better again:

Well, I was....

AH, and only a few baddies left!

And the line-up. Haven't played Gyruss on this version yet, so a lonely monumental score.

I had a decent score then. Under 300k I think though.

Hahahah. Go for broke, man. I think my score beats the TG mame top score by a bunch, and I've been thinking about going for it for a while, just haven't.

Hm. I think a few years ago, it was a bit lower. Well, tonight, if I'd been recording, I'd be fifth on the board.
