I used a 19" kit and it was great.  It looked identical to the link you provided but from a different seller.

Cool. Does it read the position where you click on the screen, ie. if you tap somewhere top left, then say bottom right, does the pointer go straight to the new position? I mean, you don't have to drag a pointer across the screen like a laptop trackpad? Hope I'm making some sense here! Also, what software are you using?

Yes, it automatically moves to where you pushed.  It worked like any other touchscreen I've ever used.  It had its own drivers.

Typically that's how any standard touchscreen is supposed to work.
Just make sure you have the right drivers installed for the controller.
If you have the wrong drivers they can do weird stuff or nothing at all.
And of course without power to the controller it will act dead also.
There may also be cursor settings depending on the touchscreen software.

What "brand" or "model" was the first touchscreen kit you tried?
ELO, 3M Microtouch , etc

That's what I thought. As far as I can tell it was a Synaptics AST-150, or at least that's what the seller said. The drivers didn't let it function as is should though.

Is that one USB or Serial ?

Is this where you got the software and drivers from:
http://www.dmccoltd.com/english/download/index.asp
or
www.synaptics.com/support/drivers

The biggest problem people tend to have with off brand touchscreens is getting the right drivers AND software to go with them. It hard to tell if the touchscreen or controller has a problem if you are not positive you have the right drivers and software.

The one you linked to in your original post that you are looking at now does state that is comes with the software...... so that's a plus. (and it's new)

I tried both those sites for drivers and neither worked properly. I've returned the screen now so hopefully I'll have better luck with the new one.

Cool.... I just thought you still had it there to play with.
Better luck on the next one. Like I said, with it coming "new" and with software you should be good to go.
