I emailed you back Andy. As far as I recall the LED blinks the slowest or not at all when dead center.

I will have to look at it again to move it ever so slightly to see how it reacts.

My video addressed that. Like I said in it: in the 'center' position, it pulsed very softly, but wasn't apparent in the vid due to the low resolution of the camera. It very obviously pulsed when the stick was moved to the point that the active zone in the map was triggered.

The main point of mine was that analog mode is problematic because there's a discrepency between the tolerance of the PCB sensor design and the tolerance of the Sanwa base design, the former being far tighter. Although, as was obvious in the vid, mapped modes can also be affected.

I did forget that the ini can be manually edited, which may help with the smaller radius of my special restrictor (or other custom-like restictors), though I don't see this feature affecting the stick base issue.
