Old cabinet, X-Arcade tank stick..
« on: January 09, 2009, 03:43:47 pm »
My cabinet has been toast for several *years* now and I've never really fixed it due to basic lack of knowledge of wiring/electricity, and sheer laziness.  Then I read about the X-Arcade Tank stick today .. is there any reason I couldn't just integrate that into my cabinet somehow instead of the existing mess of buttons and wires I will probably never get working?

Old post re: wiring.. missing pictures, but you can glean it's a mess:  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=16075.0

Guessing the hardest part would be getting the actual tank stick attached to the cabinet.

Thanks for any advice.  Wish I wasn't totally incompetent with wiring (I know I'll never learn until I try, but the time/$ ratio is a bit of a factor now, and if I can fix it for $200, that's worth it compared to the time I'll have to put in).

He has in Ipac.  The wiring is the problem.

Where do you live?, I'll come fix your wiring for $199.

lol

What kind of cab do you have?  Let us try to help you before you spend $200 on something you may not need.  The time you save is not even close to being that much.  I can wire up an I-pac to a two player six button cabinet in less than an hour.  You can for sure do it in two.

I refuse to believe anybody who has the skills to make a post on this forum is so inept that they cannot wire up an I-pac.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

If you just want it working and don't care how it looks inside, then all you need is a pair of wire strippers (some people just use their teeth), some wire (you can get this free if you look around), and some quick disconnects. Ask us anything....this crap's easy.

Ok.. I'll take some more pictures of the wiring and see what help I can get.  It's a *mess* .. I do have an I-PAC, but there's some other bizarre stuff in there that I have no idea what it is, why it's there, etc..

(I live out near Charlottesville, VA, but I'll give it a crack first and when I fail spectacularly, then maybe I can pay someone :)  )
