A way to view Mala controls
« on: January 08, 2009, 06:41:38 pm »
I wanted a way to view what buttons do what in Mala, so I was trying to find a way to open a Photo with a button press and close it with Escape.

Well I found it

If you want to do the same heres how

Download Fullscreen Photo Viewer its freeware and install

now add a folder to your mame directory, I made c:\mame\menu
now in photoshop or whatever your comfortable with make a new pic and write all instructions on it, like the one I have attached, if you need more room you can make more than 1.

now save these as png in your c:mame\menu folder

now open Mala, right click and open Mala options
go to controller\external applications and for mame add
C:\Program Files\FullScreen Photo Viewer\FullScreen Photo Viewer.exe c:\mame\menu
and choose the key you want to open it
now do the same but choose other emu instead of mame, this way you can open it from any emulator.

now close options and press your key, it will open your menu png and escape will close it
space bar will move to next png if you have more than 1

I have attached my png to give you an idea
cheers

Very nice solution!

Another option for those with illuminated buttons - the LEDBlinky plugin can speak and blink the mala controls.
Robots will kill you.
