Gotta love the IOM, Are you based in Douglas, if so I'd be getting plenty of Bike type games ready for TT.
And also getting the place filled up with cabs, because Im visitng IOM in April  ;)

Seriously though, would think about out of season and how you're getting through that.
I'd be looking at getting into Game in town and asking about putting flyers out, I'd also be possibly getting promo stuff to every techy place on the island. Obvious one's are the adverts in the airport and at the docks.
But I dont think it would be viable to just have cabs, what I always found is pool and snooker tables keep punters in for ages. And I know I will always walk and drive that little bit further to any place that has well kept tables.
I think a good model for this type of "nerdy" thing is laser quest, visit one of those, speak to the guys see how they make it work.
Have a membership fee so the guys that join up get good discounts and have stuff like free play evenings etc etc.

Good luck and dont forget last week in APRIL (get place full of cabs) lm there lol

There's no chance this will be up and running by end of April unfortunately. We can't start refubishment til planning is complete and that's 8 weeks from application. And we haven't applied yet, because premises (in Douglas) haven't gone through yet. It's all hassle.

We are not relying on the TT or MGP or tourism (although with the recession, that's likely to increase or die completely). Year round business hopefully.

Are you over for work or break?

I live in Portland, Oregon and frequent an 80's arcade called Ground Kontrol.

dude, i was in portland for new year '09 and on the 1st we went to rocco's pizza on the 1st.
they do amazing pizza and have an arcade machine. that almost sorted my hangover out!

if you are in the UK it has to be a bar / arcade / pizza joint. build it, and people will come!

I don't think he wants to move to Japan to build an arcade.

Well things are moving slowly forward. Hopefully we will have secured premises by tomorrow, in principle. It's very frustrating, but at least it should gather pace now. The place we're after is spread over three floors, of which the games will be one.

over for a break, lived over there for a few months some time ago, I helped open the Game store - good fun. Was gonna move over there, got my work pass and everything and then the mrs had a change of heart.
luckily since then Ive had a change of mrs.
taking the car over for some nice early morning driving with a few friends - cant wait.

good luck with the venture - sounds cool and i think as you said build as a more year round place rather than seasonal i reckon it'd work out fine. Lets face it, there aint massive amounts of food choice in town, bar the dodgy kebab shops on the bottom end of the high street. good luck

Myth. They are just dying slower. From what I've heard, they survive by being more than half full of pachinko and slot machines.
NO MORE!!

Hah, no doubt. As well, there are some profanities that are just silly, as well as silly-sounding, that incidentally started emerging from the mouths of youths in the 90s. <shakes head in a most Bill Cosby-like manner>

  • I'm not prejudice. I hate everyone equally.
Here's a arcade over in CA that caters to the fighter crowd. Seems pretty successful.

Thats the kind of arcade I'd love to open. But it'd die in my town so quickly....
