Gyruss Pronunciation?
« on: January 06, 2009, 06:14:09 pm »
How do you say Gyruss?

Is it:

Guy-Russ? [Rhymes with 'Buy', synonym for male]

Gee-Russ? [Rhymes with 'We', sounds like 'Gi' the Jiu-Jitsu martial arts uniform ]

Jai-Russ?  [Rhymes with 'Buy', but has a strong 'J' sound instead of the 'G' sound. Like Jump versus Gump]

Thanks!!!

JAI-russ, like "JAI"-ro-scope  8)
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

I've always said Guy-russ, but Im also the guy who called Galaga Guh-law-ga for 15 years. I learned to speak english from my Kentucky born and raised dad. I had no chance really...

Ha! I've been trying to train him to say Galaga correctly for the last year. He's getting better, but there's definitely some twang still in there. I've lived in the Illinois/Wisconsin/Iowa triangle my entire life with the majority in Illinois. I guess you would say I have the flat accent of a central Ill person. Any time we visit my gramma in Kentucky, I find it hard to not pick up the accent a little bit. It is in my blood after all...
