How do I ship a game overseas?
« on: January 05, 2009, 03:14:36 pm »
Howdy-

n00b shipping question follows.

I have a Swiss buyer interested in my Spy Hunter.  I've never shipped a game to the next state, let alone the next continent.

Can somebody recommend a company/procedure/whatnot?  I guess I need to get it on a pallet & wrapped & strapped to a pallet & have the shipping co. come get it.  (as I don't have a vehicle big enough to deliver it).

Any concerns I should have if I'm being paid up front via PayPal for all expenses?

Thanks!
-Jason

hmm...

If you do it, as soon as you get the money in your PayPal acct, remove it.  That way they can't 'freeze' your funds if the buyer decides to stiff you.

Good point.  Actually, I still got stiffed once on a Paypal payment to me.  I withdrew the money, got it into my acct, shipped the item, & *then* PP did a pay reversal because they had an outdated bank account set up to fund the transaction.

Fortunately, it was an honest mistake & the buyer remedied it shortly.

However, I'd be afraid of this happening again and not getting resolved.

Perhaps there's a "waiting period" after which I successfully withdraw my PP funds into my acct & know that PP won't reverse the charges & take the $ back...?

i would suggest you get the buyer to deal with all the shipping details if he wants the machine so badly

Make sure shipping and payment and contact info all match. If the buyer claims to be on a trip in Africa, don't sell to him!
