« on: December 28, 2008, 10:16:23 am »
I'm wanting to restore a dedicated factory exact SF2 champion edition next so doing my homework on what to look for and what to avoid. I believe a factory dedicated is a Dynamo Cabinet ? I can't remember 1992 that well so bare with my wondering mind........

Your picture there is of the original Street Fighter (#1) kit version, in Dynamo cabinet, with a Champ marquee added to it. I say kit version because SF #1 also came in a deluxe dedicated version with pneumatic punching buttons: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9803

An original dedicated would look like what you have in your photo, but with Champ Edition side-art, bezel, etc. And I think it was blue (but you're right, it would be a Dynamo)

This is the dedicated SFII Champ Edition

It's a Dynamo, but a different model.

I've never seen that cabinet before. Did they put them in the other more standard dynamo also ? I want to restore one but do not want to waste my time restoring a non original.

I have a big blue and it is tagged as having been manufactured by Capcom.

The cabinet I have is the one shown in the flyer -- it is just tagged as being made by Capcom, not Dynamo. It had been converted a number of times when I got it, but underneath a number of CPOs, there was an SFII CPO.

Old picture (cab now houses my MultiJAMMA rig and is undergoing some rehab), but it was handy:

You have to understand that around the time that SFII was popular, Dynamo sold a lot of empty cabinets to operators so they could install whatever game kits they wanted. That Dynamo cut-corner style was super-popular.

Yeah, I have a 25" Dynamo HS-5 cab that was originally just that- SF2CE. Even has the booklet inside.

As far as a TRUE original, dedicated SF2CE cab, that's another matter.... I'm not even sure such a thing exists...

There were more conversions of SF2CE than big blue cabs, so it's arguable that the Dynamo's are the more correct cab.

You could always just convert it into a SF2 Hyper Fighting, which came in kit only.

the blue cabinets were made by a company called "****" (i have it wrote somewhere) these were used for Capcom releases and a variation was used for ST.

The dynamo was mainly used for SF2 and then upgrades kits were added to them.

You mean there actually was an "original" SFIICE cab? I've seen the big blue, but never as a SF* cab, even in arcades with SF fighters up the whazzoo. SF* was always in the Dynamo.
