Mala In Vertical Orientation Problem!!

Ok am using the RetroGUI layout and have set it vertically and saved it in mala layout program. Now i have my LCD monitor orientated vertically in my bartop cab, and have set the screen res in the nvidia CP to 1024x1280, so windows displays correctly (mameXT does also), i noticed that when i loaded mala that it only filled a quarter of the screen, but mame displayed the correct way around and at 1024x1280. To get mala to fill the display i had to go into the options under 'GUI' the 'Display' and select,

 'Change desktop resolution to layout size (fixed layouts only)'

If i do this the mala fills the screen, but now when it loads the rom, the game is in the wrong orientation (its back to horizontal not vertical) and the screen resoultion is low, 60x480 maybe??

How can i get mame to display vertically and at 1024x1280 and also mala to display full screen??

Personally I would use MameUI to configure the options (in this case rotation and hw stretch maybe???), but it can also be done thru the ini file.

Well im using MameXT,  but i dont know why it changed the res in mame, when im just asking it to changed the res of the frontend (mala) and nothing else
