EI Buttons vs. NovaGems - Pictures
« on: March 15, 2009, 09:11:16 pm »
Hi All,

I've been debating between the Electric Ice buttons or the clear NovaGems using the RGB drive modules, and I figured I'd post a few pictures for those who are interested.

Note that the NovaGem has a diffuser installed, as they are way too bright otherwise and you can look right into the LED. Also, these buttons were driven off the same LED-WIZ terminals, so the brightness is identical in all cases.

Thanks for this. I have been searching for pictures directly comparing these two side by side.

Thanks... I think the ones on the right look way better. They also look just like lit up Happ translucents.

Glad these were helpful. I ended up with the NovaGems myself.

Well, there's a good reason for that.... ;)

nice, i was wondering what the two look like side by side.

the nova gems do look better in my opinion but are kinda expensive even compared to the electic ice.

one or two wont break the bank but for larger panels or if you're making several panels that can quickly add up.
Anyone got change for a dollar?

I also like the Novagems. I will be getting the green ones and Randy states on his site that they aren't as transparent as the other colours due to the manufacturing process. However, I kind of like that with the green Novagems and other novagems in particular...they still have colour when off whereas the EI are creamy when not lit.

If I am not mistaken, Endaar used clear novagems with the RGB-Drive. Which is why the green looks so nice.

This is a great resource, nice to see side by side
If you could have a shot off them both off too I think that would help people make an informed decision

I too like the NovaGem/Happ transparent ones better both on and off
the Electric Ice are a milky white when off which just does not suit my taste

Yes, that's correct.

The EI's are gone and the NovaGems are thankfully mounted by now, so I can't help there. If there's interest in what the NovaGems look like in my CP, I'll post something. Best I can do.
