I'm running Maximus Arcade and one of it's features is to play a random game at set intervals of inactivity in the frontend. Kind of like a screen saver, but better.
Anyway, I have it set to choose random games from MAME. During this time it chose "Tenkomori Shooting" by Namco, which I had never heard of. Watching the game demo got me intrigued, so I tried the game out of curiosity.
What a fun game! You are a monkey that has to save his brother from the witch. However, along the way you are pitted against a variety of mini-games with goals, working your way up a tower. A lot of the games are varients of classics, such as Galaga, Dig Dug, Vertical Shooters, Missile Command, etc.
The game occasionally suffers from sound stuttering during scene changes, but it's very tolerable as gameplay is unaffected. (Kind of like Simpson's bowling does).
Give it a shot. I'm happy I did!
