2 Questions, both related to Groovy Game Gear Products...
« on: December 23, 2008, 07:59:52 pm »
I have two questions.

1) I just recently purcased a GP-Wiz40 from Groovy Game Gear.  I would like to configure some of the buttons to be mouse buttons within windows.  Is this possible?  So, instead of Say Button 1, I want it to be the left mouse button.

2) I recently purcased the  Electric ICE-T™ Deluxe RGB Arcade Trackball V2.0.  I would like to get this to work with mame.  It works just fine as a joystick, but when I enter into mame(even though it says it's using mouse 1-x for the analog x-axis, it does not recognize it within mame.  Any ideas on why this is occuring?

Thanks in advance!

1)  The Electric Ice-T trackball has built in mouse button support.  Simply connect wires to the proper pins and you're all set.  It has support for LEFT, MIDDLE and RIGHT buttons.  No need to even mess with the GP Wiz.

2)  Make sure the mame.ini file is present.  If not type MAME -cc to create one at the command prompt.  Make sure the mouse is enabled.  Default is 0.  It must be set to 1 for it to work.

Thanks guys!  I think you both solved both of my questions!    One other question.  I have 4 wires that are coming out of the RGB drive: http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=83&products_id=240

How do I wire this up to my LedWiz control board?  Also, I'm not planning on using the last 16 pins for input(but for output to drive other led's).  Is this okay?  I want to hook these up in such a way that I can turn on a button to just one color(instead of hooking up all 3 wires like I did the trackball)...

Thanks again,
Chad D. Bryant

The instructions can be found at the bottom of the following page:
http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=270

"Wiring the RGB OverDrive™ lighting module:

There are 4 wires connected to the lighting module. The one marked with red is to be connected to a 5v DC power source. The other wires, in order following the 5v wire are Blue, Green and Red control lines. If you own an LED-Wiz™, these would be connected to 3 outputs of your choosing. Otherwise, to hard wire a specific color, just attach the desired colors control line to ground. This can be done in any combination you desire to achieve one of 7 colors, or small resistors can be added in series to create any color desired."

Also,

I've done further testing on my end and came up with the following guideline:
Primary Colors:
Red Wire = +5v source - Connect this with the following to form that color:

1st Wire = Blue LED color (ground)
2nd Wire = Green LED color (ground)
3rd Wire = Red LED color (ground)

Additional colors:
1st Wire + 2nd Wire = Light Blue color (ground)
2nd Wire + 3rd Wire = Yellow color (ground)
1st Wire + 3rd Wire = Purple color (ground)
1st Wire + 2nd Wire + 3rd Wire = White color (ground)

Hope this helps!

Thanks, that definately helps... One last question, the LED Wiz, works great for the first 16 ports, however, 17-32, I can't seem to turn on.  Perhaps they are configured for input instead of output?  I don't know... I've tried the LedWiz software that can turn on/off the LED's, but only 1-16 are able to be lit and when clicking on 17-32 they fail to light...

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks,
