Weird keyboard mapping problem
« on: December 23, 2008, 05:56:11 pm »
I've just been round to visit a friend of mine who's bought a cocktail cab of ebay and couldn't get it to work.  It's got a keyboard encoder in it which I can only make out the letters "MP-2" on it.  Its a tiny board that I didn't recognise, and I couldn't find any installed software to re-program the key-mappings.

Anyway, the joystick is wired up stupidly so that the LEFT direction is mapped to the TAB key.  No biggie I thought as I'll just map P1-LEFT to the TAB key in mame, which I did (and made sure no other mapping was set to use TAB).

The weird thing is that when you move the joystick left in a game, it doesn't seem to register until you *let go* of the joystick.  All other mappings/directions work fine.  When testing the joystick in notepad, tabs appear as you move the joystick, not when you let go of it, so I can only assume this is a problem with mame.  Has anyone else had this problem or can offer any help?

Thanks

Did you unmap tab from UI Config? (the input people here usually mean when they say "press tab").  Or remap it to something else?

The P1 left uSwitch is probably connected to normally closed instead of normally open,
