MAME32 VERSION .59 PROBLEM
« on: June 21, 2003, 11:18:14 am »
OK, here's my question.  Right now I am currently running MAME32 version .59.  The reason I am running this version is that when I updated to a newer version, some of the games ran slow like NBA Jams, Mortal Kombat II, MKIII, etc.  Anyway, they run very well in version .59.  The problem I am having is that I am trying to play one of my older favorite games, Gold Medalist.  I downloaded the proper zip file for versions .59-.60 for that particular game and I am still getting this same problem.  I click on Gold Medalist, the bar shows it is starting to load, but then the screen goes back to the desktop.  The screen never turns black or goes to the startup.  I have also noticed a few other games do the same thing.  I then hit ctrl, alt, delete and notice that there are a few MAME32's running, but I don't see them running anywhere on my computer.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  Also, is there a reason when I put on a newer version of MAME32 some of the bigger Midway games run so slow??  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

One more thing I forgot to add.  When I click ctrl, alt, delete, and then click on MAME32, I then click on end task, and this warning pops up on the screen.

goldsnd0.c47 ROM NEEDS REDUMP. Warning:the game might not run correctly.  Press any key to continue. Unable to start video emulation.

I may update my version of MAME32 but I'm afraid those Midway games would run slow again.  Not sure why that happens?  I am running a pentium III 1 gig. 538 megs of ram, 64 bit fast video card, so I know it is not the computer being to slow.  Again, any suggestions or help would be great.  Thanks.

OK, I downloaded the newest version of Gold Medalist, and used it on MAME32 version .64 and it worked perfectly.  It still isn't working on the .59 version which I would rather use and yes I am using the older zip file which should work for version .59.  The problem I am still having is when I go to version .64 it says an older version is detected and do I want to use the new configuration.  I click on yes.  But when I play games like NBA Jam TE on version .64 everything is slow and choppy.  I don't have that problem with version .59.  Sigh... nothing in life is easy! Any help would be appreciated.

OK. I really would like to upgrade to the newest version of MAME32 but I have no idea why the Midway games play slower, like when I upgraded to version .64.  I gave my computer stats above, and also to let you know I am running Windows 98SE.  Do the newer versions of MAME32 need a faster computer, or am I not configuring something properly.  They all seem to work just fine in version .59.  Any help would be appreciated.
