Planning for first project...Cocktail Cabinet.
« on: December 21, 2008, 06:53:52 pm »
I am currently researching everything about MAME and have ordered the Project Arcade book which I hope gets here soon.  While I wait I am getting my software together.  \

Question on how the games are displayed.  Since I will be making a version of the "Crazy Canadians Cocktail Cabinet" how do you format how the game will be displayed?

Example.  I want to play Mrs. Pacman from each of the short sides and I want the screen to flip for player one to player two.  Then I want the screen to also be able to flip horizontal for fighting games.  I am using Mame32 for the emulator.  Is there a setting in here for this?

Any help is appreciated.

Glen

I can't help you with the screen flipping but if you need some resources I've got tons of pages that will help you through the planning process.

I'd switch to mameui32. It has a lot more options, including flipping horizontal an vertical.

I made an upright cabinet with a screen that can be turned depending on what game is being played. mameui32 seemed to work out best from the few that I tried.

ghettodish,

Sorry, I am using MAMEUI32.  Where do I access the screen flipping feature?

Also Lecithin,

I would love to see your pages for planning.

Thanks,

Glen

That setting will be in the game itself. With the game running, hit the TAB button for game settings. There should be an option to switch from upright to cocktail. I think you then have to exit and restart the game.

Obviously, this option only works on games that were originally offered in a cocktail cabinet. You can find out at klov.com

You can click my link below to see the cabs I made. They are posted at myspace.
