Using artwork files on large TV, not cropped?
« on: December 19, 2008, 12:29:31 pm »
I currently have a 20" LCD in my cabinet.  I like to use the artwork that is available for games, especially the vertical ones as it adds some nice graphics on the edges that are normally black.  I configure MAMEUI32 to use the artwork, but crop it so that the game size is not affected.  On my current monitor I get the game so it stretched from top to bottom and only artwork on the sides.  I know that I am not displaying at full size because of my monitor orientation.  I am planning a second cabinet and will probably be using a 27" TV.

Is there a way to configure MAME so that it will only make the game the original size and then use the rest of the area for bezel?  In other words keep the game the original size and display artwork all around the outside?  Would this also work on horizontal games?

For example on a game that was on a 19" screen horizontal or vertical, it would be displayed the original size on the 27" TV, but have artwork fill in the rest?

I hope I explained this clearly.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Use the crop artwork setting.
