Wife approves!
« on: December 18, 2008, 01:38:20 pm »
I fired up the cabinet now that it's operational and she came to to the basement to check it out.

She played on it til almost 1am. She was chewing me out for not having the SNES emulator going on it yet. She was hoping to play some tetris attack.

Looks like I'm going to be fighting here for the controls!

I seem to recall the tetris with lyrics thread.....

Having a supportive spouse is better than winning a free play!

Congrats on getting the wife to approve!   :applaud:

My wife just finished playing it a few minutes ago.  She was in rare form, because she usually complains that I spend to much time tinkering with it.  LOL.  It was surprising to see her play it, since it's rare.

My wife didn't ---smurfette--- and complain when I started my cab, but she did give me a 'look'.  Well I take it back, one time she did complain and said she thought it was a stupid waste of money, but only because she wanted to buy something for herself instead! ;)

Anyway, after it was up and working (took four days start to play time!) she was on it playing Pac Man and as happy as could be!  Now she wants a dedicated 4way stick!

We downsized when we got married and moved into a one-bedroom to save for a downpayment on a house.  The place was tight, and my cab would have eaten up a lot of living room real-estate.  I was ready to part with my pal, but the wife said "absolutely not" and let me take it with us.  Yep, eats up a good corner of our limited space, but THAT'S true love baby!!!

Nearest my better half gets to gaming is Little Big Planet.

She uses the phrase 'but you've no room' an awful lot. Fortunately, I have in-built hearing switch off which kicks in at anything starting with 'but'.   :P

I was smart, I paid for the entire thing with e-Bay money that I got from selling my junk in the closet.  She was happy to see the stuff go and I was happy that she could never say, "You spend so much money on that thing".  Since I didn't spend a cent on it!  :-)

My Wife not only approves, but she actually found the gutted-converted old cab for me ($50!), and took the ride with me to pick it up AND helped carry it into the basement  8)

... she also kicks ---my bottom--- in Twinkle Star Sprites  :D

So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

My wife doesn't give a crap about the arcade cab but the feelings my wife has for me are so strong, she approves of it out of sheer love.

... I guess that translates into: it keeps me at home and prevents carousing around ;)

My (soon to be) Wife helped me get My first empty cabinet, the game system running it, the x-arcade on it, the 17" monitor to it, and the sound system for it, for my birthday earlier this month(DEC 4). Well on the day after cristmas she paid for my X-men cab I'm working on which is fully working. and she's made an order for a new CP overlay, a new marquee, and my controls for it(after we decide on what to replace the old happs with, probably another set of happs, or another x-arcade set, warranty makes it worth it.).
Newbie in working on cabs, expert in playing, breaking, moving slowly, and overall failing at them too.

That's the way to do it.

I used money from ebay and selling various home console games and other crap... I've spent $0 out of the family budget on my cab and I've probably spent around $800-$900 so far on everything.
