mspacman: speedup hack or not?
« on: December 17, 2008, 10:23:57 am »

It seems more people enjoy the mspacman speedup hack over the normal game and I do not understand why.  I'm running the poll to see if more people do enjoy it or if it's just my perception that is off.   I just don't get how the game is fun when you're uncatchable.

Thanks!

Speed-up is the only version I have ever played in the wild as a kid. I have only recently been playing the normal version.

For a casual game, I still prefer the speed-up version. For a challenge, I agree the normal is better.

The problem with the speed-up is that the first 2 screen sets are throw away time. I'm not even good, and anything less than a perfect board on the first couple screens is a disappointment.

I never play with the speed-up hack - it's just not as fun for some reason.

Agreed. I find it way too easy.

And here was me thinking the speed up hack made the whole game faster to make it harder

I've never played it so I didn't know. By the sounds of it, and by the way I suck at mspacman, I could do with playing the speed up hack version  :)

I'm not great at any of the pacs, but I prefer their innate game plays, and think the speed-up hack is silly.

If you want the whole game sped up, turn off throttling. Now that's a sort of challenge. Or, for a somewhat more exotic feel, you can go for Pac-Man Plus! - the speed of which, right off, is like board five or so, but then there's a bunch of trippy stuff that really just makes it a kind of farce. Fun, though.

Pac-man I prefer normal speed. Ms Pac I prefer turbo. I've been playing some Jr Pac lately too...I do ALOT better on turbo. I can't even get 60K on regular speed, yesterday I got 221K on turbo.
