Tron T-Molding to go blue, light blue, or purple
« on: December 14, 2008, 05:07:29 pm »
I know the original T-molding on Tron is black leather texture.  I have seen Tron’s with purple T-molding on the internet.  Long story short I am thinking about putting blue, light blue, or purple t-molding on my Tron cabinet.  I would like to make it somewhat unique and give it a slightly different look that someone who is not well versed in arcade games would not notice.

What do you think?  I am going to run this poll 7 days and see what you all think.

My vote is for black. I don't think you want the T-molding drawing any attention from the eye - the attention should be where it belongs - on the beautiful artwork. Why do you want to make it somewhat unique? Do all your friends have a Tron or something? ;)

No none of my friends have Tron cabinets.  I want to do something that will set off the artwork.  I think that a different color t-molding would do just that.  I thought about red or bright red but that would not go with the joystick handle.  Blue I think would go great with the joystick handle.  I am also trying to think of a way to light the spinner blue maybe from underneath like ground effects for a car.

I think you're going to find many more purists than renegades. I personally agree with TheShanMan :dunno
To game, or not to game...what kind of question is that!?

I voted purple.

So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

That is what I expected but I am beginning to think there are many more that do not care.  LOL.  This thread has been viewed 167 times.  Even if each person viewed it 4 times, when a new post was made, that would mean there has been about 40 people view this thread, I think I am under guessing a bit, and only 15 have voted so far.

I ordered samples from T-molding.com and when they get here I will place them on the cabinet and turn on the lights.  To see what they look like.  Then I can get a better idea of what it will look like.

i'm one that doesn't care...it's your cab...& something like t-molding can _easily_ be modified...
hell...get all three and swap them out every couple of months...!

I agree with fixedpigs,  T-Molding is probably one of the most easily changeable decisions that you can make on your cabinet.  It is also not a very inexpensive one.  I ordered 6 or 7 samples when I was deciding on a color.  Put them on the cab and then made a choice.  If I woke up tomorrow and decided I hated it, I could order up a new color and have it changed out in a few short days at minimal cost.  No tearing down the cabinet, rewiring, or anything major.  Pull off the old, put on the new, a few minutes work and its done.  Save the old T-Molding and change it back if I want at a later date.
