AMI Contiential II Mute relay
« on: December 11, 2008, 08:42:29 pm »
I have a 1962 Continental II mono that has a sometimes noisy mute relay that's mounted on the basic amplifier chassis. I cleaned it up with some success. i was just wondering if anyone know where I might purchase a replacement.

Sorry dude, a lot of us won't even know what this is. If you give a more general description of the part and what it's for, we may be able to suggest an alternative.

Failing that, maybe one of our tech-heads will have an answer, but be sure you choose your forum correctly.

The mute relay is located on the basic amplifer board. The purpose of the relay is to mute the sound of the jukebox while music is not being played. This is like an early version of a latter day noise gate. The relay grounds the grid of the power tube in the basic amp and cuts off any sound to the amp when a record is not playing. When the contacts in this realy are old and dirty or the relay itself becomes weak you get noise.

Get a part number and look at your local REAL electronics store - usually a hole-in-the-wall place - or online.
