New coin mech rejecting tokens
« on: December 10, 2008, 10:28:53 pm »
Long time since I've visited the forums.  I recently purchased some Happ 42-3053-00 mechs and some Pachislo tokens.  Problem I'm having is that the mech rejects the coins every time.  The mechs and coins are brand new, so I'm not sure why they don't work.  Here are some pictures of the mech I have:

The tokens land in the cradle (marked in red), and rotate, but then get dumped out on the reject side marked in green (on the back half of the reject side, not the side where coins deposit when pressing the reject button).  It appears the size is valid, but is it possible the weight is off?  I thought 984 tokens were pretty standard.  Any ideas?

Do you indeed have .984 sized tokens?

Is the token mech level? It will not work if not level in all directions.

They are ever so slightly larger in diameter than a quarter, but under 1".  They are supposed to be standard "Pachislo" slot tokens.  Are there any other sizes that fit this description?  I've tried the mech both in the door and out, making sure it was flat, and it doesn't work.

Some of the new ones you have to put a example token in the mech somewhere so it knows what to accept.  Not sure about how to do it but I have heard about it.  Also try other coins and token to see if the shipped the wrong one.

You're probably thinking of a coin comparator, or something similar.  This particular mech isn't electronic at all, it just uses gravity and physics to validate the coin.  Yeah, I'm trying to think of somewhere I can get other tokens to compare them to, but the only place I can think of is Chucky Cheese.  I'm almost positive they use .984 tokens.

You probably have .900 tokens, not .984, so they get rejected...

Chuck E. Cheese has great coupons for free tokens. Be sure to check their website before you go.

No offense directed (as I understand the stance you may have on this) but there is NO WAY IN HELL I would pass out CeC tokens to friends to play my cab.

The only reason is how crappy that place has become (atleast in the majority of areas). I would feel like I was insulting my guests (assuming I had any friends that is) by handing them out CeC tokens. I would much rather get a clutch of BYOAC tokens; as this would affirm my hobby.

On a related note: any new BYOAC .984 tokens coming for 2009?
--- Yes I AM doing this on purpose, and yes I DO realize it is pissing you off.

---If my computers were cats, my place would look like an old widows house, with half of the cats having obvious health problems

Sorry, I didn't mean use Chucky Cheese tokens on a permanent basis, just to have a known .984 token so I have something to compare my tokens to, and to see if they work on my mechs.  I don't think the tokens are .900, because they are definitely bigger than a quarter, and .900 would be smaller.  They are not a full 1", plus they don't jam when I put them in, so I don't think they are 1" either.  I'm pretty sure at least the diameter is correct, but what I don't know is if there are different weights or thicknesses on .984 tokens that may throw the mech off.
