You can't spraypaint plastic without priming it, unless you go try some of that new FUSION paint from Krylon I think.....that bonds with plastic and leaves a super glossy finish.

how well it will last under repeated button-pressings is another matter.

If they sent you the wrong color, send them back and get the right one.....ps: you realise you'll have to take the buttons apart to paint them, or you're risk gunking up the inner workings of the button right?

Vinyl (SP?) Dye, which you can get at most auto stores works well and doesn't involve any priming.  Might be similar to the Krylon stuff.  Used it to die my keyboard and it doesn't scratch off.  May wanna look around the net for a Vinyl Die mod for exact using instructions.

could you vinyl dye the buttons to a look of chrome/silver?  I want to go with the chrome look when SilkStik releases the all metal sticks.

They don't come in a silver finish as far as I know. It doesn't work by coating the surface. It works its way into the surface. If you're not starting with white buttons, though, lord only knows what color they might turn if you start mixing the original button color with the new dye color.

Just return them.
